I’m Becky Edwards — author of the Little Lyra, Big Adventures series and mum to the real-life Lyra who inspires all the giggles, chaos, and curious questions in my stories.

I’ve always loved stories — reading them, directing them, and making them up on the spot when we definitely should have been asleep. These days, I write books that celebrate the silly, the sweet, and the slightly wobbly moments of toddlerhood – with big emotions, even bigger imaginations, and gentle reminders that it’s okay to make mistakes.

​

Before diving into the world of children’s books, I wore a lot of hats. I studied astrophysics (yes, really), trained in musical theatre, performed on stage, choreographed musicals, directed shows, taught thousands of students – and even briefly detoured into the financial sector. Now I run a performing arts college here in the UK, where I teach musical theatre and help young performers shine.

When I’m not writing or teaching, you’ll find me on a walk with my family, singing show tunes in the kitchen, trying to survive hayfever season without sneezing into space, or reading just one more bedtime story with my daughter.

​

I believe stories help children grow to be brave, curious, and kind — and I hope Lyra’s adventures bring a smile (and maybe a little mischief) to your day.
